Some gallery questions from a noob

When going to the stats page:

There is a Legend line; hits, conversion, bytes

Below are columns with numbers.

Thumb, med, 2xL and bandwidth all with numbers (when they appear). the list varies with gallery.

What do the numbers mean, hits? I don't think you can hit 2XL can you?

Clarity would be great. Thanks for your help.

One can view X2 and X3 sizes if you allow it. For example, the gallery that this image is in seems to allow all the way up to the X3 size:
