Making a Gingerbread House!

My girlfriend and I made a gingerbread house a few days ago and I took a couple pictures. I felt this was the only one worth posting.

More than anything I am trying to work on lighting when I'm taking somewhat "snapshots" of my life. How could I make this picture better lighting wise?

    I say you've succeeded in going beyond the usual snapshot look. The lighting is nice, angles are compelling enough, skin tone looks good...i guess the only thing might be slightly shallow DoF blurring the left hand...but that could be desired as well.

    and on a related note, we invited some friends over last weekend for our annual gingerbread houses. my snapshots:
