All,

I am a rookie photographer and I have been asked to take the photos with Santa tomorrow. I will be taking about 300 photos and I need to make sure that I have the best settings possible.

I have the Nikon D300 and the Nikon SB-800 Speedlight Flash.

What settings do you recommend that I have set for AF, flash etc.

The pictures will be in a church and a large room. I have a Expo Disc for hte white balance. I don't have a flash tree so I will be using my flash on the body of hte camera.

What shoudl I set the flash at? I plan on using the diffuser.

Thanks,

MD

Sorry if my reply is late- computer problems. I just did Santa photos last week in a church gym with my D300 and SB600 in an umbrella. I also used a white board (the back side of a fundraiser poster that was on hand) as a reflector. I had my camera in Manual with a shutter speed at 80. Flash in ttl mode. Aperture maybe around 5.6? Subjects about 6 feet from a wall, on which a red table cloth had been taped for a background and a tree near the background about 2-3 feet behind Santa's chair. Here's an example:

    Hope this helps.
