It has been just wonderful just looking at all the wonderful pictures you guys / gals posted. I kind of wanted to wait till all were posted insted of making a hundred replies to everyone on how magnificent the pictures were. I really wanted to go on this outing... :cry but i didnt for a reason. i felt as if i would be too amateurish for the group, and that i wouldnt fit in. ive always been shy in new social contexts. ( BTW on an aside... Thats what is so great about Andy... He has always made me feel comfortable ) what impressed me about your images was the "fun" and "learning" you all shared with each other. Ya know, after seeing you guys in the pictures you all dont seem so scary after all.. well at least most of you dont! :D The candids of the attendees are just as great as the beautiful landscapes but more revealing. I already knew that Yosemite is a beautiful place, but now I know how nice the people from this gathering are.....
I hope to be apart of a future outing...
Since im suppose to post an image, but I wasnt there... I hope its alright if I repost two of my favs from the long list of great shots....

I really liked this one a lot! Nothing what I imagined!

That one that is signed by Shay Stephens,rolleyes1.gif , strangely enough. I know, old subject rehash.

But that is the one so outstanding, it is sharp as a tack!

I had not seen it before. How did it get so sharp??

    Shay??

Some of that was the post, even if there was no post, that itself is post.

Shay, what do you do with a photo as far as the sharpening is concerned? Must have been a good lens, too, and a really good photographer.

    Troy,

Oh man, I can't believe you missed this event because you didn't think your skill measured up ne_nau.gif As the pics have shown, this group spanned the gamut. Most of us are hacks. Yeah, Shay, Andy, PF, Sid and some others are really good. But, most of us were just trying to take the best shots we could and enjoying the outstanding companionship thumb.gif No one made fun of anyone else's shots (with the expcetion of the occassional plumber's crack or the Sid squat :lol ). Like here, people seemed to go out of their way to be complimentary towards us less capable folk :D That's one of the things that made this shoot so much fun. We were 30+ equals out shooting one of the most scenic areas in the world. And man oh man, did we rip it up clap.gif

Now that you know how it really was, I hope to see your name on the list for next year's shoot. Personally, I've always liked your shots and I think you'd fit in well with any group of Dgrinners :-)

    Steve

PS; I agree with you on how nice it is to shoot with Andy thumb.gif Even though he's very talented, he doesn't rub your face in it. If you want help, he'll give it, but he won't lead you around by the hand and tell you what to do for every shot. The best part about shooting with Andy is that you always know you will be eating well :eat binge.gif :lol

Yeah, Windoze, I have no fear. Send me the money you save by not going, if there is a next time, I will venture forth.

And I am old, get winded. No one mentioned that! Fainting and/or just sitting down did not seem to be a factor.

I went through that on the workshop here with 30, 40 and even 50 yr olds, of good shape and weight. I was fine until about an hour before we left, or two hours, then I could not believe they wanted to WALK all the way to the rookery, and I had no idea, once there, how I was going to get back alive.

Did anyone feel a bit fatigued at any point? Did they mention such a possibility: out loud.

Win mate...there is no greater hack on this earth than me...i have only had the 20D for 6 weeks prior to the trip & only 1st laid eyes on my lenses in the backseat of andys car after i trained it up to san Jose & steve took me round to his house (after he introduced me to popcorn shrimp)

I asked people why the camera wasnt working & it simply wasnt turned on...im serious here mate !! Thats just the start of a long long list of questions but next time you get to one of these shoots because i had pre-concieved ideas of what it was going to be like to walk into a group of what i call semi pro's & have to join in.....nothing was too much trouble for them & their company in general was awesome. I will admit ..i wasn't sure what they would be like as we are poisoned by the media but seriously there was no-one there that i wouldnt have risked my life for or backed up in any way.

These are 'salt of the earth' people.
