Approximately how much does it cost to replace the shutter in a 1D2 body?
I'm looking at one with 140,000 clicks... so I am just wondering if the 60,000 clicks is will be okay for the price of a new shutter if it comes.

Thanks

It's always worth mentioning that the expected shutter life is an estimate. I know many that have long outlasted their expected count, and many that die early.

15524779-Ti.gif No one can really know when the shutter and mirror mechanisms will fail. (Those are the 2 most likely mechanical systems to fail.)

The last dependable information I had, as of about a year ago, is that shutter replacement costs for the 1D series cameras tended to be from $450-$650USD, depending on what else might be replaced at the same time.

Mine bit the dust at ~191K on Memorial Day. The repair was $260 about 2 weeks later.

I've killed and replaced the shutter in a 20D. It died at around 127,000 actuations. The death throes of the shutter are probably similar to those of a dying 1D series, it started Err99 about every 200 shots, then 2 or 3 per 100, then every other, then it would click but err99 would prevent it from actually recording a shot. I got it replaced by Morgantown Camera a Video Repair (MCVR) for 170 dollars. It wasn't "quite" right after they sent it back (dirty switch), I sent it back, they cleaned the switch and it still operates flawlessly today with an additional 10-15k actuations. Last time I checked MCVR does replace 1Dxx series shutters as well as xxD but I believe the operation is more costly as the part is more costly.
