I use Firefox 3 and it will not allow me to upload pics. My site just locks up. If I use IE 6 and no problem. www.cygnusstudios.com
Hi,
Do you have any third party add-ons for Firefox such as AdBlock? If so, we recommend you disable all of them and then see if it works. If it does, you can re-enabled them one by one until the culprit is found.
Also, a good first step is to make sure your Java is working properly:
Follow these steps to make sure your java is up to date for a PC:
I checked for the ad ons and Java. Still can't upload a thing. On the bottom of the screen is says waiting on cdn.smugmug and does nothing.
I have to close all windows and open firefox again.
I tried on a different computer and it will allow me to upload using the "olde faithful way".

The newest version of Firefox on both systems.
I realize this doesn't help you but I also have had a lot of trouble with FF since updating to 3.02 and now 3.03. I have tried all the solutions suggested here but nothing helps. It worked great up until version 3.02, then the wheels fell off.
My Java is current, I have no add-ons...I usually get 5 or 6 images uploaded then it freezes.

So what happens if you go back to the Firefox version that worked for you?
Do you have any toolbars installed?
Let us know which version of java do you have installed. Go to www.java.com and click on 'do I have java?'.
Could you try clearing your browser cache and see if that helps.
To clear your cache in Firefox on Windows, click on "Tools". Then select "Clear Private Data..." There will be a new window pop up. Make sure that the Cache check box is checked and click on the "Clear Private Data Now" button.

I have done all the above several times. No toolbars, no add-ons, Java 11 update, FF 3.05.
I have given up on using FF to upload files. I use it for browsing but when i want to upload files I have been using IE8.
Not a big problem. I suspect it must be something on my end as others use it w/o issues.
My Firefox 3 would always, and I mean ALWAYS crash when trying to upload to smuggy. So i stopped using it. Internet Explorer works like a charm, but I hate having to use 2 different browswers. It's a PItA.
So, I downgraded to Firefox 2, and it still crashes. I don't know wtf is up with that, but it only started that when I upgraded to FF3.
FF used to work fine with SM, but not anymore.

I uploaded more then a dozen files with FF 3.0.4 and Java 6 update 10. Then I updated to FF 3.0.5 and Java 6 update 11 and uploaded the files again, successfully.
What other software do you have on your computer running? Also check the tray area next to the clock in your taskbar. Maybe you have some sort of virus, firewall or internet security software that interferes with our uploader.
The only thing in my task bar is Norton Internet Security and my monitor calibration program. This was present before I made the FF upgrade and all was fine. My problems with FF began when I made the upgrade. It is not an issue, although I prefer FF I can just use IE when uploading files.
Here is a curious circumstance that also occurred when I made the FF upgrade on PayPal's website. When I log in it will just sit there and seemed to be stalled....there is a link that says "if you have not gained access after 5 seconds click here..." I need to click that link 3 times and then I will be allowed in. This is a repeatable thing...every time I access PayPal I need to do this exact procedure to log in. Could this be related?

3) Follow the steps to get the latest version of Java if you need it.
If you have a Mac, it is even easier, just click on the Apple Menu and run the "Software Update" to get the latest version of Java.
Please let us know if you continue to have problems.
All the best
