I had no idea what kind of duck this was when I took the photo. I did think the head looked just like a scaup back home. Imagine my suprise when I looked it up and found out it is a New Zealand Scaup 
The position of the bird isn't all that great in this image but I liked the reflection of the trees on the water.

Here's his mate. Only the head and eyes were noticeably different between drake and hen.
