Some birds, some berries

So I got a new lens for XMas and since I have a forest behind my house it was the easiest place to go try it out. I originally just wanted to get some bushes and trees and stuff, but when I got there I heard some birds and a non-stop 'tac-tac-tacking' in the distance. It never occurred to me to try and shoot some birds. Critiques are more than welcome, I've never shot birds before so I can only go up from here.

here's what I came out with.

Non-birds...obviously

Wonderful color in all of these. The nuthatch (second bird) and downy are very nice. About my only suggestion is try to get closer. mwink.gif

good captures..thumb.gif ...I'm gonna go against Stephen on the downey & say it's a Hairy because the beak looks a bit longer.

I wish I could have gotten closer but my zoom was maxed out. On top of that, I've already cropped the heck out of it. Maybe once I get ahold of a 300+mm I'll try it again.
