Yes, you're right, I've complained about this before.

I'm starting a new thread because this is a new occurrence of the problem, and I am afraid it may not get noticed embedded in the previous thread at http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=115066.

I am using random photo feeds on many pages on my site, and I am once again getting sad smuggy telling me that my photos are not found.

Here's a screen shot from my Gallery page (http://denise.smugmug.com/gallery/4859541_NYqCo), taken at 1:43PM (EST) on December 27, 2008.
I've seen the problem in other galleries and in my blog too.

I hate the fact that I seem to need to check the appearance of my site on a very regular basis to make sure that it still looks as it should.

Yes, this is an html-only page. I use this type of page extensively to get the look that I want for my site.

Yes, I am using random photo feeds.
Yes, the photos are still in my galleries (and if I had deleted a photo, the random photo feed should not be grabbing it, should it?).

I am seeing the problem in my blog in cases where I have directly linked to an image (that is, no random feed).

This happens using my smug URL http://denise.smugmug.com.
This happens using my custom domain http://www.denisegoldberg.com.
This happens on IE7.
This happens on Firefox 3.0.5.
I am using Vista.

This is the third time recently that this has happened.
Site issue on December 21st - http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=114841.
Again on December 23rd - http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=115066.
Again today, December 27th.

Please, please fix this soon. And (more than) hopefully, a fix that sticks, giving sad smuggy a smile instead of a frown.

--- Denise

The same problem here (XP platform). I was viewing different galleries as sideshow and at random, the smuggy face appeared instead of the image.

It seems to happen in all galleries viewed in IE7, IE8 beta 2, Firefox 3.0.5 or google Chrome 1.0.154.36

When I close the slideshow and restart it again, the photos that did not come up first, now do, but other photo's now do not appear, so that it really is at random that photos don't show.headscratch.gif

As far as I've been able to find out it only happens in the slideshow not in my galleries.

Thanks Andy. I appreciate knowing that Don is working on it.

I guess I should have warned you a long time ago. If there's any possibility of software breaking, I break it. In fact, I'm paid to break software...

I'm not seeing sad smuggy jumping up on my site now. It was popping up on a regular basis earlier today so I hope this means that the bad code has been banished (permanently).

    Thank you.

I'm currently seeing question marks instead of the images in my blog header, yesterday's blog entry and also in the sidebar 'Mendip Photos' when viewing in Safari. I have NOT installed the recent upgrade that has been the subject of discussion, and this has persisted all day. Yes I have cleared the cache, restarted Safari etc. Firefox is fine.

please turn external links to ON and all will be well.
