Hi. I have a Nikon D300 and am looking for a remote cord for it. I see that nikon has the MC 30 or on the high end the MC36. My question is has anyone used one of the cheaper generic brands like Opteka XL Remote cord for the Nikon and how does it work for you? Is it worth getting?

I plan on using it for only my long exposures and macro work. Thank you in advance.

I have an ebay special 16 channel i bought and use regularly.....I dang near use it all the time......and everytime i use a 'pod........I do not like opteka lenses so I prob would try their releases........

I do like my wireless....but having a wired remote for back up would not be a bad idea either.

what about a yongnuo wireless? Are wireless any better? I mean to I have to deal with extra batteries? I am constantly going through batteries with my SB800...and having to remember to charge the D300 batteries (including extra battery pack).

I really do not know what type of remote to get for this camera. At least my D50 has a remote. Maybe I should just plan on using it for special shoots...but it doesn't perform as well in higher iso's for night shooting.

The 16 channel wireless are my damned flash triggers.....

I have the Yong Nuo and it works like a charm.....half press and it focuses, full press and shutter fires......and it will work on bulb also......

Mine was under $30 on ebay.........

I have Yongnuo releases for Canon, a $5 one and a programmable $40 one. They get the job done.

I picked up a used Nikon MC-20 on Craiglist for $50, you may want to hunt there for one :)
