In a retention pond

One advantage of a retention pond is that the small area they take up allows you to get close to your subject. That was the case with this Hooded Merganser.

    I really like the fourth and fifth one Ira with the head plumage on full display. I agree too that if the hoodies land in a small pond you are more likely to have a good shot at getting closer!
