I was pondering about modding my 30D to IR. Now that my 5D2 is my main camera, I want to use my 30D as a backup... but lately I have been looking at IR work. And... :lust

Is there a good place to have my 30D modded or it is better to get another body that was already modded?

I would get one of the newer lower-end models with liveview and contrast AF (Live-mode). One of those with a clear glass mod with AF calibration check gives you a couple neat options:

    - You're not tied to one type of IR-filter, which has quite an effect on the image.
    - You're not tied to just IR either. You can get a filter that matches the sensor filter so get a normal visible light response - or you can go UV.

Cons (there's always some, ain't there): filters go in the front so the usual fiddling with sizes or stepping rings apply, you can't see through the regular viewfinder and metering probably goes out the window (hopefully that doesn't take the live view with it!).
    Creativity's hard.
