Photoshop CS2 help

O.K. I have purchased and installed Photoshop CS2. When I tried to open a RAW file, I got an error message. After much web searching, I found that I had to download the Adobe Camera RAW 3.1 update. I've done that, and installed the new RAW plug-in in the correct folder (I think).

NOW when I try to open a RAW file, I get:

"could not complete your request because this version of photoshop does not supply the services required by this plug-in module"

?????

Has anyone else seen this error? My RAW files are Nikon NEF's from a D70.

Did you reboot after dropping in the plug-in? I may be all wet, but I seem to remember that being necessary. ne_nau.gif

No, but I'll try that now. Didn't see it in the instructions.

Good idea, but it didn't help.

One item of confusion was in the installation instructions for the plug-in, it said:

Navigate to Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats

On my computer there was no folder "Plug-ins" under Program Files\Common Files\Adobe

I have since created that directory tree and installed the file there in addition to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS\Plug-Ins.

I still get the same error. ne_nau.gifhumungus

On mine the tree goes like this.

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats\Camera Raw.8BI

Yes, I have created that tree as I said above. Didn't help.

Perhaps you downloaded the raw plugin for CS, not CS2.

I have Photoshop 8.0. Is this the same as CS2?

No it's not! The plug-in for CS works.

    Problem solved.:):
