Well, our timing was good on the Yosemite trip. Because at the moment Yosemite Valley is CLOSED. Reports at the moment are that the road is under about two feet of water.

Here is Sentinal Meadow 5-15-05

If only I lived there I could get us in. Just need some kayaks.

Man there would be some Crazy Kayaking there right now. I wish I could load the kayak in a plane and fly out there right now. clap.gifclap.gifclap.gif Take a waterproof pelican and take the gear with me of course. As long as you could get far enough down in the valley to not have to worry about and severe drops like off an edge of a cliff it would be great.

I read this the other day while looking for the Tioga Road status.

www.nps.gov/yose/ is the official site and you can find some piccies on
the site. But Tioga has snow that's got to be 15' at the road. That's gonna
take a long time to clear.

I sure hope the web site is right because it gives you the impression the park
    is open--soggy but open.

The park is open but there is another flood warning this weekend. If the weather gets as hot as suspected, it may happen yet again..

I was talking with a friend about this very subject.

Given the copious amount of snow in the high country, me thinks it's
gonna flood a few more times.

I think the shot you posted was taken from the bridge, ian. Here's a shot from the same location, slightly more zoomed-in, from our Friday there.

How lucky were we? We pick a rainy weekend, get a day of absolutely
gorgeous weather to shoot and a day on either side of it for some other
    cool shots.

That shot I posted is from the NPS site and according to the caption, was
    taken at the swinging bridge.

    No kidding about the weather.

The swinging bridge, is that the solid wooden structure by the rest rooms and the field we shot in on Saturday morning? 'Cause that's where I got my shot, and they sure do look the same.
