Yay, Florindo!! Welcome to one of the only photo forums where it doesn't matter what kind of camera you use Oddly enough, it's all about the pitchas here
I felt so bad reading your "Outgrowing my Sony" thread :cry It would have responded, but that thread was going downhill fast. I would only have added fuel to the already blazing fire I understood where you were coming from, but I guess some others had to read comments and emotions into your post that were never there to begin with How sad. I liked that forum a lot better when people were ripping the 828 instead of ripping each other.
Oh well, as they say, "you can never go home".
But on the bright side, many of your old friends are here :
Again, welcome to Dgrin and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :cool
Steve
Only us non-trolls are here. (plus all of us STF rejects :giggle ).
Looking forward to your posts.

This is Dean (the tall Guy in Central Park - the good looking one in the STF bunch that day).
Welcome! This is a great place.
(I just need to contribute more :uhoh )

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
I hardly ever check STF anymore... just an occasional look see to see if there's anything interesting. Funny thing was, I don't think ANYONE even noticed I was gone :
I was amazed at the challenge thread (Penelope's) that ran off into this amazing exchange of not so nice posts, and no one asked how Penelope was after her unexpected trip to the hospital. That forum has sure changed. I'm glad a lot of the nicer people are here, hope you'll join us too!
I'm not adverse to dSLR, but I'm waiting for a good match of economic camera and economic zoom lens with a high res and good pics... I don't think it's quite there yet. I know I'd miss my swivel lens and live LCD, I really count on them a lot.
I'm leavin' on a jet plane tomorrow to head for Long Island. I'll be there until the 24th. Windmills and lighthouses this trip.
I checked your thread in STF, made me chuckle, I remember my 707 died and I was without it for 6 weeks, then I had to get it fixed again, and then a third time! I will say (knock wood) my 828 seems to have held up quite well. Must be the 5 year warranty I purchased this time
Check out my Yosemite pics! I had a lot of fun looking for "non rock" shots!

Many, many thanks to you all. I first came to dgrin back in January '04 but never participated. I've lurked ever since, though, and I've enjoyed the posts.
I'm sad that the STF at DPReview has eroded the way it has, and I'll miss it. But life goes on.
I look forward to being excited about posting the pitchas again. A hearty thanks to my friend Andy for getting me out of my funk. He's a great guy to hang out with.
