F Number = F8
Exposure Program = Manual
ISO Speed Ratings = 400
Metering Mode = Spot
Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
Focal Length = 400mm

Handheld using Bushhawk

Found this Saw Whet Owl yesterday at Amherst Island. Saw 5 Snowy Owls, at least 5 Long Eared Owls, 3 Short Eared Owls, 1 Boreal Owl. 5 species of Owls in one day, not bad. :D

I took many photos of this little fella and was surprised how many were sharp. (slow shutter speed) Quite a few were taken at 1/160 and 1/200. I have most images with eyes open, but thought this looked pretty cool.

I also love how the feathers cover their eyelids.

Beautiful. The feathers around his eyes are very delicate.

Beautiful image. I'm jealous of all your owl sightings! I hope you have some more owl pics to show us.

Oh my goodness, that's the sweetest image I've seen in a long time. Gives me warm and fuzzies all over!

Detail and clarity - great! Light - amazing. Texture - doesn't get much better. Minor nit - slightly distracting shadows. Overall, very, very nice. :D

Here's what I just finished saying out loud after the image loaded:

    "Wow! What a cool picture!"

Very well done. The texture of the light and shadows on the owl are really excellent.
