Phil: you've spread a visual feast here. Unbelievable. Now, I have a question. I know this has been asked before, but I've never seen it answered adequately. It may be some kind of trade secret that nobody wants to reveal. I don't know.

How do you capture these moving flies and bugs? Do you lure them with something sweat? I know you can freeze them with the flash. But how do you get so close without scaring them away? Do you just walk out to your back yard and start looking for critters? Handhold your rig and start clicking away? Or do you set up with some sweat bait and wait for them to come? I'd love to know. Thanks!
    More Photography . . . Less Photoshop [. . . except when I do it]

i have never baited them so far, just walk up to them quietly,if they are feeding they are too busy to notice you, got to remember for every one you shoot, loads of others dont hang around long enough just move slowly & quietly!

Hi Phil.......hmmm well I hardly photographed anything in the land of bugs this year, I guess breaking my ribs didn't help, as they are still bothering me 7 months down the track.

Numbers #3 + #4 are my favourites in this lot,
you guys seem to have a never ending supply of bugs :D

Thanks for sharing, I enjoy your posts Phil thumb.gif ..... Skippy :D

I just discovered this forum. These images are amazing. I'm trying to learn to shoot macros and these certainly set a high standard!
