I captured this from atop the St. Louis Arch in early November at the peak of the fall color season. I was inspired by Winston's winning entry in the "From Above" DSS mini challenge.

Amazing "riot" of colors indeed! clap.gif

However, I find the picture makes me lean towards the right. The perspective angle of the trees makes me wonder how it would look oriented as portrait rather than landscape. Maybe its just me.......headscratch.gif

I did mirror it. Do you think the lake should be on the left side? Hmmm. I've been looking at this thing too long now!

I suppose it does not matter, but I'd keep it un-mirrored, myself.

Wow, the colors are absolutely ridiculous! Do you get those types of colors naturally in Missouri or only in cultivated areas? Seems like the only difference between New England and the rest of the country wrt autumn colors is that New England has a better marketing department...

I have no official position on landscape vs. portrait orientation, but I'm willing to take an official position on the photo: it's awesome.

I'm no expert, but I liked the original best - to me it conveyed a sense of vertigo that is an integral part of the story you are telling from the top of the arch. Love the photo!
