I'm still quite shocked at the D700's high ISO capability and even it's metering. Not just the low noise at high ISO, but also the very rich colors! These were all handheld with auto-ISO turned on to go up to 6400 with a minimum shutter speed of 1/80 unless 6400 ISO still wasn't enough, then the shutter speed will be forced lower. I was trailing my wife and 4 year old the entire time so these were literally point and shoot with no time to adjust anything. All I had time for was a change of metering now and then to suite the scene (center weighted, spot or matrix).

All with Tamron 28-75mm lens on a Nikon D700

ISO speed listed above each photo...

Thanks :) There are 3 large hangers packed full of planes from the Wright Brothers days to now. It would take you all day if you were to take your time and read about the planes, etc.

Wow, very nice, and the noise doesn't bother me at all, on any of the images. Very nice thumb.gif

My most favorite is the F101; 'Simple' photo, empty floor leading up to the a/c. Just nice.
My least favorite is the second of the B58 (at least I think that's what it is). I'm not sure what to look at on that shot - my eyes keep looking around but find nothing to focus on, really.

I was there in November 2007 (for the first time in 20 years). "All day" is an understatement - I spent 3 days there, but then I am a little obsessive about airplanes...

Thanks :) It looks like they're adding another display. A small section of the 2nd hanger is closed off and they're painting the ceiling black (this is the hanger with the white ceiling). They're already got a drone predator?) hanging from the ceiling in that section they're working on. It'll be interesting to see if they're doing the whole ceiling in black. My favorite hanger is the last one...it's the most dramatically lit, etc.

Yes, they are painting the entire ceiling of the Modern Flight Gallery black. The work is scheduled to run from December 8 through February 14, and the gallery is being closed in sections while the work is completed.
