Lens considerations

I am preparing for a lens purchase to use for high school girls softball and parks and rec kids baseball.
because of budget constraints, two of the lenses I am looking at are Sigma 70-200/2.8 and the 100-300/4. Any opinions or suggestions as to what would be the better purchase specifically for the sports mentioned?
Shooting with Konica-Minolta 7d.

If any of the games are at night the f2.8 is a necessity.
