My slideshow gallery is unlisted and therefore cannot be seen by the public but when I look at the stats the slideshow gallery has more hits than any gallery. How is that possible if it is "unlisted"?

Unlisted doesn't mean it can't be seen. It means it isn't listed on any of your pages - unless you have explicitly linked to it.

Are you talking about the gallery your homepage slideshow is drawn from? If so, that gallery is accessed every time someone enters your site.

Yes. How? Are they able to click on the slideshow images on the home page and then are taken to the gallery?

The gallery is accessed by the slideshow.
I could be wrong, but I assume that's where the hits are coming from.
