Took a quick run up to Yosemite yesterday. The Weather was a bit less than ideal with rain starting within a short time of getting to the park. Snow soon after.

I think schmoo might be right...B&W.

It's a winner in my book. THe snow capped mountains are beautiful and the clouds adds drama and mystery. thumb.gif

I like this shot a lot. Well done.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Thanks all for the nice comments!

A quick run (for me at least) is only a 3 or so hour drive :D

Absolutely beautiful, love the snow, the light, and the clouds/fog, great subjects (oh, and that big chunk of rock isn't bad either).

Nice shot. How bad were the roads yesterday? I hit Badger Pass for the first time today and was crawling in many spots due to icy roads.

Saw tons of fog in the valley on the way back down to the valley floor. Half Dome's end of the valley was clear though today. Looks like you caught it at just the right time.

Chain controls on 120 from the junction up to the entrance station. Valley floor wasn't bad--slushy. 20mph limit (strictly enforced) in the snow but otherwise, not bad.

Less slush and more chain control spots along that route today (I came in from Groveland so went through the gate on Hwy 120).

Where did you shoot Half Dome from? Is that the Tunnel View stop? Or further up on that side? (south of the valley floor) The vertical angle looks too flat to have been taken from the valley floor. The horizontal angle looks south-ish from a shot I took along Big Oak Flat a week ago (at a pullout not far from the Foresta turnoff).

Awsome shot and gorgeous weather! I think this would look great in b/w also, since you have so much great texture in there. Mmmm.

3 hours ain't bad. I'm really, really, (REALLY) looking forward to some day trips to all of these great local parks in a few months.

Thanks Schmoo! I look forward to it as well. I'll try the b&w conversion. Thanks for that!

Roads are fine. Altitude is usually where you find snow and ice. Chains or 4WD or AWD with mud and snow tires is usually just fine as long as you respect the fact you're driving on a slippery surface.
