Trying frame approaches, I tend to like them simple.

Yes, keep it simple. Very nice perch and pose from a red bellied woodpecker. They always scat when they see me come within 200 yards. rolleyes1.gif

They scat on me too ... so I resort to trickery. Use of a chair blind and spreading suet across the back of whatever perch I want them to use :)

    Beautiful shot. What's suet?

sort of a lard pudding mixed with seeds, peanuts and sometimes fruit. You can get it in the grocery store in the pet section usually, where ever the bird seed is found. It looks like little 4"x4" squares next to little cages that they fit in (sold seperately usually). You can hang the suet up in trees to attract woodpeckers and other birds that don't mind clinging to things to feed.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
