Question about animated GIFs

I have a question about storing animated GIFs in my galleries. When Smugmug generates different size views, does it retain the animation, or will I be limited to animation only on my original? I tried to get an answer in help but did not find anything relevant

you will be limited to the original only for animation. The 'display' copies we create are JPG, regardless of the original file, so there can be no animation unfortunately. I hope this helps.

Thanks Ivar and Andy. Funny that I missed that line in the help page, because that is where I first looked for an answer
Good to know as I did not want to put effort into creating some GIFs and then finding out that I cannot use them as intended. I'll think of some alternative
