White Pelicans in Flight
I went back to the Salton Sea to test a new camera set up. The reward for approaching the pelicans in a slow, non-threatening way: they cooperated by flying in my direction.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks, Joel. By the way, when I met a photographer at the pelican spot blasting his car horn trying to get all the birds in the air, I passed on your information about how much energy it takes for the birds to migrate and take off. He went into a rage, screamed about me being an a**hole, and threatened to smash my camera. I took pics of him, his car, and his license plate, said goodbye, and thought about how many better people exist in the world.

Thanks, Glenn. The birds will be there for a few more months this year--for Felicia, too, this is a Mecca for birders, who outnumbered the photographers. (Actually, I don't know if there are many birds in Mecca, which is just up the road.) --- John
