Firewire Card Reader

Can anyone recommend a firewire card reader. I've been hooking my camera up directly to my computer and have recently come across a few threads that have made me realize that a card reader is a much better option.

I was looking at the SanDisk Extreme Firewire Reader [1] but wasn't sure about this bit in the description... "The Extreme FireWire (FW) Reader supports the Extreme IV CF (Type I and II) cards." Does this mean that it only reads SanDisk cards? I have a variety of cards SanDisk, Lexar so need something that will work with any CF card.

Cheers,
Steve

    Hi -

    I've been using this http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-FireWire-Reader-Bundle/dp/B000HW5WRW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231137505&sr=1-2
for at least a year. I'm on my 2nd one. I think the first one was having problems or else it was me not ejecting it correctly from the computer and then putting in a card. But I did lose all of the photos on the card a couple of times. No problems with the replacement. It's FAST. Can download 300 large jpeg images in about 5 minutes.

It reads all of the cards I have and I have a variety.

This is the reader I use. It works with every card I have I even have a CF to 17 in one adapter that I use for my sd and xd cards with the card reader. So far I have used sandisk lexar, transend, & Olympus from all sizes and class and never had a problem.

Steve, the SanDisk Extrememate FW800 Cardreader takes any Type I and II CF Card. I have this reader and am very happy with it's performance (speed). But I believe the Lexar FW Cardreader is just as good. If you are looking for an UDMA Cardreader like the two I mentioned there are also some USB CF Cardreaders availabe form other Comapnies, they are just as fast but only half the costs. You just need to google a bit to find them.
