Phil's not the only one that gets to post shots of flowers from summer
I was taking photos of some colorful dahlias and noticed this fly, I took a few shots and this one was my favorite (hand held wide open at f/2.8 with the Canon 100mm macro lens):
I had another version with the eyes in focus but I liked this one better. Probably should have stopped down 2-3 more stops and got it all in focus but with a shallow enough DOF for the flower, but then I wouldn't have been able to hand hold it without adding some noticeable noise.

Wow what a smooth background you've captured here :ivar
Too bad the eyes are not in focus .... the Canon 100mm Macro is truly a very sweet lens .... Skippy

great background and composition.
could try using layer masks to use sharp eyes on fly from another shot in this one, its quite easy and would make a big difference.
