Motorcycles - first year of DSLR
As the title says, i've just completed my first year of photography and DSLR.
I've been a fan of Andrews Wheelers work for some time and after getting an unexpected bonus brought my first DSLR and decided to give it a go myself.
Mixed results and a steep learning curve but i'm hooked, here's a selection of my 2008 season in British and World superbikes from Brands Hatch and Donington:
Thanks for looking, C&C is more than welcome.
1. Nori Haga (going through Muggers crud)
2. Steve Plater
3. The late great Craig Jones R.I.P.
4. rumble
5. Cal 'on it'
6. Biaggi & Checa into the British rain
7. rain dancing
8. say hello to Troy Bayliss
9. into the shade
10. above Tom Sykes

Just some thoughts, the Haga shot would've been better if you could see where the dust and dirt was coming from, even half a wheel but more would've been better, as it stands it almost looks like it's shot through a fence...
Remember sometimes less is more even if you really like the shot it might not tickle others..
Try not to crop into shapes. If you have to crop in post (and it happens and there's nothing wrong with it IMO) try to keep a similar ratio of 2:3 or 4:3 as int he second batch you're keeping the subject in the centre which doesn't excite. For me I'm less worried about having a space to go vs just having "space"..
For example I like the "Lonely" Spies shot..if you could've got yourself a little more left and managed to squeeze in that second corner in the top of the frame you'd have some flow from top to bottom.
There a couple of nice shots in the first batch too, but watch your backgrounds...and try and tell a story
