A few more shots that have been gathering dust. These are very early morning shots of a few rare (for us) White Pelicans.. on a short stopover probably on their way to The Salton Sea.

Well done. I love 3, 4 and 8. Great job on the exposure for that white plumage. Number 8 I like because you caught that cormorant with some fine display plumage. Was this during breeding season for them?

Nice shots, Chris--lots of animated poses. The pelicans at the Salton Sea must be pooped out after their migration--they mostly sleep, preen, then fly off to feed.

Great series. #2 and #4 for me, but all of them are good. You really captured all these birds in some typical poses. I like the cormorant plumage also.

Pelicans are cool. They can be quite comical.

Thanks for posting these, Chris...I feel better than before I saw them.thumb.gifD

Hi Stephen, Thanks for the comments on the Pelicans.. This small group stayed a couple days and left. The Cormorant shots were taken late spring, early summer, just before the young left the nest. They really keep the adults working, non stop trips to keep them fed.

Hi John, Thanks for your comments. These guys were pretty muddy and dirty, probably from a long trip south. We get a few every year but they don't hang out long.

Hi Lauren, Thanks for your comments.. I had to chuckle when viewing my shots, it was like they were having an early morning coffee clutch.. very sociable birds (to each other).
