Help! Is there any way to save this?

I have no idea why it focused on the background rather than my brother and his g/f. Laser must have been off, grrr, and it looked fine on the LCD display. She wants to print it for a birthday gift next week, but I don't have much hope of rescuing it. This is a resize of a 5 MP jpg straight from the camera. Any suggestions?

    focusfixer maybe? http://www.fixerlabs.com/pages/fixer.html
it's not free and i haven't really tested it yet, but this could possibly do the trick. the free download version puts a watermark on your image.

if you have photoshop cs2 you could try the "smart sharpen" filter, which could also possibly work.

i really hate when that happens, you think you were focused when you look at the shot, but by the time you realize what's wrong the people stopped posing or you missed the moment.

I'd say it probably focused on the background because your light meter was confused by the subjects being darker than the light coming from behind them. My teacher explained this to us and called it "The Black Dog Conundrum" because this always happens when he is trying to photograph his blak labrador.

As for fix it it...Well after the photo has been taken I really dont know.ne_nau.gif

    Nope
Just agreeing with what is said. There is not enough data in the photo to sharpen up. Sharpening will just give you more contrast on the edges of what is already blurred out. Always disappointing when that happens.

You could try this extreme sharpen, but I think the people are just too soft. Bummer
