Due to very cold weather, I've continued editing my old shots from 2007 - here's some more finds rescued from the scrap heap.
I've changed by work flow now so I try to edit all the shots the same day (saves disc space).

I have a 55mm and would like to get as close as these photos you took.
Suggestion?

Alice- I either use a sigma 105 often with extension tubes which goes upto 2:1 or I use an MPE-65 which goes from 1:1 to 5:1 magnification with no additions.
Not sure what lens you are referring to with the 55mm - is it a macro lens ?- does it go to 1:1 magnification ?. The normal first choice for getting closer is to get a set of extension tubes such as the Kenkos.

Extension tubes are just hollow tubes with electronic contacts like these

They allow you to focus closer.
With your lens a full set would give you about 2:1 magnification (4X higher than your current max) but would give you close focus distances in front of the lens (about 2").
