After having had a number of mild winters in the south of England over the last decade or so, we're finally having some relatively cold weather.

I finally managed to get out with my camera this afternoon and this is my favourite so far:-

Nice work, Charlie! I love the expanse of wintery nothingness. Very powerful and mysterious, and goes well with the shot of color in the foreground.

Hope you're doing well out there! thumb.gif

Nice frosty grass. For me the comp might be improved with less white (nothingness), it appears to me the white takes too much of the image.

    Brrrrr... looks chilly...

Hi Schmoo, thanks very much, I trust you are also well.

You might be surprised to hear this was only the second time since Mull that I've actually left the house with all my gear with the express intention of taking photographs, family and work commitments are making life very frustrating on the photography front. :cry

Thanks, funny you should say that, I've been working on this comp which I also like in B/W.

It certainly was cold and I forgot my gloves, it's been a long time since my fingers have hurt that much.

Thanks Linda, I prefer the B/W version, I like the overall mood it gives.

Beautiful shot! I like the comp in the second one much better, but I am undecided as far as b/w or color goes. I can really feel the frosty air in the color version, while the b/w has a nice soft moodiness to it.

Thanks Saltydog, I agonised over the same issue, I like both the colour and B/W but the mood of the B\W edged it for me.

I obtained the softness by decreasing the clarity in Lightroom, I think it's a nice effect.
