Headless Ibis

I have been trying to shoot birds in fight and am finding it difficult to get the sharpness I want. I end up taking a bunch of shots and only have a couple that are worth anything. Is that the way it goes or is there a trick that I am missing. I am using a D200 with the Nikon 18-200 vr and I have been using the continuous focus mode on the camera.

I thought this one was interesting since it appears as though the bird has no head. Comments and criticism is always welcome.

We both must be missing the trick, that's how it usually ends up for me too. If I don't have alot of background clutter to throw off auto-focus, I get a better in focus shot count. I love #2 by the way.

There's really no trick, Sorry rolleyes1.gif

It's always a "Work In Progress"

One thing RoadKill when you want or can get yourself something along the lines
of a 300mm F4 or better lens and your keeper rate will go up.

Yes I said it Gear does matter, when your skills can keep up thumb.gif

Ohh... I want, and maybe soon mwink.gif Just looking for some cash to roll in.

I also have to wade through and figure out what the best bang for the buck is. I dont think I like the 300 with the filter slot in the middle of the lens. Seems like an area that could be trouble down the road.

Maybe I'm way wrong, but it would seem to me that having a gaping hole between elements is just another location for dust.
