Thanks, guys and gals. Well, it only looks like it's exploding. Actually, the seeds were simply hanging out. I held one flash behind and below the bod. The other flash was conneced to the front of my lense. Here're the details:
This was captured with a Nikon D300 w/105mm VR, two off camera flashes (one behind and under the bod, the other off to the left front, connected to the front of the lens), f38, 1/60 sec, ISO 400, and handheld.

How did you think to do this? Were you just sitting around and thought...think I'll make these milkweeds look like they are exploding? What was your isnpiration?
