Gold Finches

My parents love to feed the birds and of course I love to take pictures. So why we were visiting them the other day I took the opportunity to shoot some pics. These were all shot through the kitchen window on an overcast day so they aren't the best. But they are the best bird pics I have ever taken. These were all taken with my 300d with the kit lens at 55mm if that gives you an idea of how close they were. Also everyday about 2pm a juvenile red-tail hawk visits one of their feeders but unfortunately I missed him this time.

Male Gold Finch:

One more male:

Female Gold finch:

And the Exorcist female gold finch:rofl :

Thanks for looking. As always comments and critiques welcomed.

Thanks,

These pictures are great, Eric! Extra sharp, colours are outstanding too! Bravo! clap.gif

And it's a good thing the red-tailed hawk missed the gold finches because otherwise gold finches there would'nt be anymore! :D

Super shots Eric, especially with the obstacles you overcame thumb.gifthumb.gif

For shooting through a window and with the kit lens at full zoom, these came out surprisingly well clap.gifclap.gif I just love those little yellow finches. We have loads of the redheads around here, but only a very few yellows.

Nice capture, you lucky stiff mwink.gif

#3 is definitely the best of the bunch, really great shot!

There's a woodpecker at my dad's place that pecks on the window for some reason, I'm hoping to catch him one of these days, I hope I have as good a shot to show for it...

Thanks for the compliments everybody. There were also a bunch of red heads but they all had something wrong with their eyes. They looked like they had an infection. I must have saw 15-20 of them and they all had at least one messed up eye. Kinda funny cuz not one yellow one was like that. ne_nau.gif

I love the colors on these birds and I haven't been able to get anything close to as good as yours. Especially for a through the window shot, these are really good! thumb.gif
