How to make a .gif file?

I have some photos that I'd like to make in to a .gif. I have LR2 and CS3. I think CS3 would be the best way to do it. I watched a tutorial once on YouTube on how to do this and I was actually able to get everything to work in CS3, but once I did File > Save > then saved as a GIF (I forget what the rest of it said, computer something maybe? anyways) and it never works. I open up the .gif file and it opens in like quicktime or something and it's just a 1 second short of a single file from the many that I tried to create the .gif from (usually the file that I had selected as I saved it, but I don't remember, it's been awhile).

I don't remember the steps I went through last time to create what I created, I think it was in the animation section or something, but yeah.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You indicated that you have CS3, if so take a look at Fireworks, it is better suited for making an animated GIF. There is a pretty good help in there, I have been using Fireworks since it was Macromedia to do this stuff. I haven't done this since CS2, when I would use ImageReady, but it looks like that's been incorporated into CS3. It looks like the problem is in the way you're saving. Instead of File > Save, try File > Save for Web & Devices. Choose the .gif output you want there and see if that doesn't fix the issue.
