Just a Bird Picture...

On Christmas day, this poor Quail hit one of our windows. I saw it hi and figured it was dead. I went out to look and could see that it was still breathing. It was pretty well stunned though. We gave it a bit of food and I took a few pics. We went back in the house and checked later and it was gone. Here are a couple pics.

It looks like a Gambel's quail. It's very photogenic. You captured some awesome detail in these images. I'm glad this window hit had a happy ending.

Thanks for the replies. I was very happy that the Quail was still a live. When I went outside, I saw it in the snow and it was not moving at all. I figured that it had broke it's neck, but when I got real close, I could see it still breathing. I just barely nudged it and it's head popped up. It was really pretty cool.

It is a Gambell Quail. We have many of them here and they are difficult (for me) to photograph. These are the best photos I have personally seen of a very beautiful and loving bird. clap.gif There is nothing like seeing 10 tiny babies in single file following mama crossing the street iloveyou.gifrolleyes1.gif

Beautiful little bird. I wish we had some of them in Florida..........

Great shots of a bird in the snow. Glad we don't have that.

I took these shots last year on a day out north of Glasgow at Loch Visions. The guy who runs this place is very enthusiastic and it was a great day.
