Kenko Tubes

I use a 40D and have have recently obtained a Canon 55-250 IS lens. For some time now I have been considering Kenko Extension tubes. I don't need them for Macro as I have a 60mm and and an MPE. I was wondering if the tubes would make a difference to the 55-250 lens and to what extent.

Bob

    Bob,

I moved this to Accessories where I think it's a better fit.

Extension tubes are specific to close focus and macro use. You would lose the ability to focus to infinity and the tubes are more suited to primes rather than zooms.

On your 60mm Macro lens it would allow even more macro magnification than normal but you already have the MPE-65 so you really don't need it.

Thanks Ziggy you have saved me some cash. The reason I asked was because I saw someone had used Kenko tubes on a Canon 70-300 lens and I thought they would have possibly worked on the 55-250. I love my Bigma but it really is one heavy lens to carry around.
