Got this today (from my Grandfather's estate). He probably used it a few times.
Tamron 200-500 f/6.9 lens for Minolta mount. More information here.

Not sure what can be done with this or if it is even usable/mountable on today's dSLRs such as Sony Alpha series or Konika/Minolta.

Not that I would know a thing about it but if I were you I'd buy a 35mm Minolta Maxxum or something. It would be worth it just to try that bad boy out.

I do think that lens will mount fine on a modern Sony dSLR. It would be a little difficult to use compared to a modern AF version of the lens but might be worth a try.

    Yeah - what Ziggy said.
I have his old Minolta XK Pro body with a 100mm macro lens attached. That camera has quite the selection of dials, buttons, setting, etc. Now I am looking to find a manual, too. Right now the shutter works, but the mirror locks up and won't drop down. New batteries were installed, too.

I may wander down to a camera shop with this weapon of massive construction (WMC) and see if it will mount. The only shop near me is a Ritz.
