Video hack for 40D?

I read in another thread that there is a hack for the 40D to make it record video. Is this also possible for the 50D? What is the video quality? How do you get this and put it on the camera? Is it safe for the camera? Will it void the warranty? And all other questions that one would ask that I'm not thinking of...

There is an individual who was able to achieve video recording using a Canon 40D. The project is not complete, has not been released to the public and would seem to have a long way to go before it can be released. At any rate there is no audio and no possibility for audio.
The best bet for video from a dSLR is the Canon 5D MKII, and I don't think you'll get much argument.

Oh ok.
Yes well I know this, but the 5D MKII is also like a million dollars more than I have soo... I would love to own that. I've played with it a couple times at my local photo shop, amazing. But I'm just a poor college student...
