This challenge was inspiring to me on many levels, especially seeing all the different takes on the theme and the thought and reflection (in images and words) that went into the submissions. Thanks to everyone who participated! :clap

It was really hard to pick a single winner (and harder still to get all my favorites in, until I finally figured out how to make a contact sheet in Photoshop)! My top picks really gave me a sense or feeling of "home," which of course is a highly subjective thing, but the best ones I felt were pretty universal.

First, the "Honorables," in no specific order:

Really great stuff here - some humorous, some poignant, and some plain awesome shots!

Next, the "place holders"

4th manfred - "Autumn"

love the early morning mist all around, and that Euro-style camper just makes me smile

3rd Cuong - "Mommy Is Home"
455653804_A6g8p-L.jpg
a great capture - this home was built by hand - er, beak - complete with hungry mouths to feed!

2nd ic4u - "Winding Down"
455653880_KQyVU-L.jpg
the setting sun through the trees and evening calm help convey this backyard swing as a place to relax and reflect

And finally, bringing "home" the gold is:

1st coscorrosa - "Shelter from the snow"

I love the contrast here between the icy blue cold of the snow outside and the inviting, golden glow of warmth inside these winter homes. Just coming in to a warm fire and the cozy comfort of home makes the short days and frozen nights of winter worth it!

Congratulations Ron! :thumb

And thus, I gladly pass the baton to you, to judge Mini-challenge #69! YAY!!!

Great job everyone - looking forward to joining you all again as a participant in the next challenge!

Wow, thanks! :D There were a lot of deserving entries and any of them could have won. I'll throw together an idea for the next challenge by Sunday night / Monday morning (I'm currently in Olympic National Park getting ready for some shots of the beach at dawn otherwise I'd do it now).

Again, thanks Benjer, it's a tough job judging all of those entries, and if I don't believe that now, I certainly will in about two weeks :D

Thanks, Benjer, for including my shot in your honorable mentions.

    Ron, your shot was superb!

Manfred, that humble little trailer caught my eye as soon as I saw it. There's something very comforting about that photo.

What a fun mini challenge this was! I loved seeing all the different takes on the theme.

Ron, where was your picture taken?

Thanks, that photo was taken in Bellevue, WA (about 15 miles east of Seattle) at Meydenbauer Park looking across Meydenbauer Bay on Lake Washington (needless to say, those are some expensive houses!). Most major roads were iced and snowed over here a few weeks ago so I was limited to shooting places within walking distance, that park is only 1.5 miles away, it was definitely worth the walk in the snow to get there :D
