Was shooting out of the car window in frigid air and 95% of the shots I was getting of these starlings were blurred. Took me a minute to realize that hot heated air coming out of the window was like heat rising up off the pavement in the summer :)

    That's funny! :D

We have so many of them around here now; I swear the sound of the back patio door opening is the signal for them to come and steal the food we put out for the squirrels. But the Coops and sharpie are loving it, and I suppose that while I prefer any carnivore dine elsewhere, from a nature photographer's point of view the mobbings does get me a lot of hawk shots.

Even if non-native, opportunistic and therefore tediously obnoxious, they are really very beautiful birds, and this is a great example of it!

Thanks! You're right ... they are all too common, invasive, and obnoxious but I needed a decent shot of one for photographic life list I am tryng to put together :) And the light was right when I was out look for the buffleheads and loons at the marina :)
