Anna's Hummingbird

I was in the yard experimenting with my 50mm when a hummingbird buzzed by me. I moved my tripod over by the feeder and was able to capture this. She was a good sport for letting me be so close to her!

    She was showing off :) Pretty capture! That looks more like a female ruby-throat ... or at least it looks like the hummers we have here in Maryland and we only get ruby throats except for rare vagrants. I think the female Anna's is still supposed to have a bit of red under the chin instead of the green splotches.

    Thank you Kurt! She was showing off. :D She is a female Anna's hummingbird. She has a bit of red under her chin, but it didn't show up in this photo.

    Very well done, especially with a shorter lens. Envious that you still have hummingbirds at this time of year.
