    I noticed that as well. Not sure. It is present in the raw file straight from the camera so it wasn't introduced in post. I think its the bokeh on this lens, the way it displays highlights. The lens is the Nikon 70-300 VR which I am not to excited about. I bought it as an interim lens until I buy a better long lens at which time I will sell this one.

    I will probably fix the cross hatch in post, just didn't have time right now.

    Actually, no filter. I had just bought this lens before this trip and I hadn't purchased any filters for it nor did I use any filters from my other lenses.

    You don't think it was just the lens bokeh?

    I LOVE the first one! Great, great angle.

    Did you have VR turned on? Wonder if that is out of whack? (Save your pennies for the 200-400mm, or get the 80-200mm; both are much better than the 70-300mm VR.)

    I did have the VR on but I've shot quite a few shots since these with the VR without this issue. Who knows... I do plan on upgrading this lens though. I will look at both of those.
