Brunch In The 'Hood

It was an exciting morning in the 'hood. The young Cooper's hawk was starving after the last few days of bitter, arctic cold so we got to see it actively hunting. The red-tail showed up as well but apparently had other plans since it was carrying a stick and didn't stay more than a few minutes, perhaps simply curious about the movements of the Coop.
The Coop was going after everything and we saw it high-tail after a blue jay, who seemed to have made a narrow escape, for the Coop later showed up to eat an unhappy meal of mourning dove in the maple tree. I raced upstairs to shoot these out the (open) bathroom window, which afforded a less stick-y angle.
Sadly, the Coop got a bit too boisterous while eating and dropped its unhappy meal. With all the snow, it couldn't figure out what happened to it.
However, I knew where it was. (I'm sure my neighbor would be thrilled by this; I'll have to retrieve it tomorrow.)
The Coop moved another yard over so I got more stick-picking practice.

It really is a very beautiful representative of its species, isn't it? I feel very fortunate it's so accepting of me and the big rig.
