very busy day, swim photos are just showing heads, where is the competition, the action. They are ok, but look just like snaps to someone who does not know, what you are shooting.

Bball, are you shooting from the side? just slightly behind basket? Were you not able to position yourself, somewhere behind basket? or the back baseline.

Hockey, photos are good, were you somwhere where you had no glass?

If you want to truly make good photos, the first rule is Straighten them.
I admire your desire to run from event to event, what was the need?

Did you just want to fill up your day? Great shooting.

No bashing or disrespect, i love what you did, it is just too early in the morning.

    You should straighten, I think?

Thanks for your input Sportsshooter06, (do you have a real name? I couldn't find it in your profile) ne_nau.gif
The swim shots were mostly for the parents. at the end of the season I will make collage posters for the seniors. I am the diving coach for the team — Loy Norrix — and I needed to have my boys at the pool by 7:30am — a long day. mwink.gif

At the BBall game, I had just returned to school with my divers and the ball game was in progress against our cross-town rivals, Kalamazoo Central. I was shooting with my 85 f1.4 (which I used at the swim meet and the only lens I had with me) and it was too long for the space behind the baseline. I normally shoot BBall with my 50 1.8 which is perfect for me at the baseline.

For the hockey shots, I grabbed my 70-200 from home. #11 and #12, were taken thru the glass with my 70-200 AFSVR 2.8. the rest were shot from the upper passage around the rink with a 1.4 converter added to the lens.

Straightening is problematic when shooting action at angles because of perspective. I try to straighten the vertical elements in the images rather than the horizontal. Not always successful. rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif

Great shots. The basketball ones are fine (I agree they could use some straightening) but not sure how you could question the position/angle of them? ne_nau.gif
