In my last trip to the Salton Sea, I revisted a burrowing owl that I had photographed before. This time the owl came all the way out of its burrow and bounced around in different poses.

3. I think the facial expression was more related to the angle of the sun than to feelings about me.

#2 is best. I actually like the creamy color of the background even though it pretty much matches the color of the bird. thumb.gifthumb.gif

Thanks for your compliments, Joel and SF. Thanks to sleuthing by Floris, I may have some more information soon from a study of the owls at the Salton Sea.

Great pics, John! You're making me want to go to the Salton Sea again.
    Is it still hunting season?

Thanks, Glenn. I don't know when hunting season ends, but the NWR has that info. If you can get there on a week day, you will probably have the place to yourself.
