How do you create this?

Hi,

I saw this picture of a friend of mine, and I wanted to know how the photographer created this high contrast/soft light effect while giving her flawless skin? I was hoping maybe someone knew how to regenerate that same effect? Thank you.

One idea:
Duplicate layer twice
Crank background layer contrast/sharpness up for wall detail
Blur top layer and set to soft light blend mode then mask out all but face/arms
Adjust levels of mid layer for sharp model detail and mask out background
Tweak levels and opacity of top blur layer to taste...
