It has been a while since I last posted. I have been pretty busy. Last weekend I took the 2 hour trip down to the wetlands. I got a few good ones (I think anyhow) but nothing great. Let me know what you think.

#1 Taken with a Nikon D3 300mm VR with a 1.7TC

#5 I need some help with this one. I'm not sure what kind of hawk this is.

Nice shots, especialy the Sandhill Crane shots.
Your hawk in #5 is a young Red Shouldered Hawk. As he gets older the blotches on his belly and chest will go away to be replaced by a wavy red/orange line pattern.

Thanks, that's what I thought it was but he didn't match any of the pictures in the books that I have.

Your Snowy's are great, especially the one that looks like it's tiptoeing.
The Kingfisher is also very nice.. I've been chasing one for 2 years.

Thanks Ric. It could have been sharper but I was handholding a 300mm f2.8 VR with a 1.7 TC and this picture is heavly cropped.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Actually I think number 5 is a Broad Winged Hawk. I got shots of the juvenile RedTailed (posted on my untamed nature group) but several people got shots of your bird, close up. The chest streaking is different. We don't see Broad Winged too often here so it's controversial.. :D
