Just pulling together everything for my transition to Smugmug and I'm very pleased thus far. However, http://derkacs.smugmug.com is about 10x faster to load than my linked domain http://www.derkacsphotography.com.

Any thoughts?

This is unbelievably awesome. Haven't heard of Akamai. I knew there was some kind of trick to getting Smugmug so fast. 3 things made me *for the first time* buy a website instead of using an open source solution. 1. Decently customizable w/css. 2. Ability to sell downloads only if you want. 3. A site that you can actually look at your pictures instead of waiting for your scripts to get through.

Impressive work. I'd love to chat with the programmers.

We're usually hanging around the forums if you have a question. Complaints however are always directed at Andy :D

Glad you're enjoying SmugMug and welcome aboard.

    Well,
It's been a couple of weeks and I can't even get derkacsphotography.com to load at home.

    Any further thoughts

If you have an A record pointed at your site, it will now need to point to 208.79.45.23 . We have instructions that will apply to most users on our wiki. PLEASE NOTE that using an A record will result it a much slower site than using a CNAME, since we're able to dramatically accelerate CNAME'd sites. Also, we may need to change IP addresses again sometime in SmugMug's future, so using a CNAME is both the safest and fastest option.

I guess I have to delete the A record.

    Daniel,

You do not need to delete the A record. You have it set right

If the domain is not loading at home, something else may be blocking you. The domain is working for me.

The domain tools that I have show that it is correctly setup.

Please let me know what you are seeing when you try the domain. That might explain what is wrong.

Yup, that definitely fixed it. I don't really care about the A record - if there's a work around I'll get to it at a later time.

Before deleting the record, it was just sitting there. My home "high speed" connection seems to multiply anything that takes long to load. The screen would be blank white for minutes even after multiple refreshes.

But, does your domain work now without the www in front? Deleting the A record should not have been related.
